Making Changes That Count

Making dietary changes that count is a step in the right direction for total healthy living. Some of the things that you can do include eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables, taking vitamins, and drinking plenty of water. For some, this may be a challenge as it requires a total limitation on fast food and other unhealthy things.

Exercise is a vital step in ensuring a healthy lifestyle. It is suggested that there be 30-45 minutes a day moving your body to get that blood flowing. One misconception is that this needs to be at one time. The truth is that exercise can be done throughout the day, which leads to a more active lifestyle. For example, a bike ride for 10 minutes, walking up stairs for two minutes, and vacuuming for five minutes adds up to a total of 17 minutes of exercise. Simply moving your body counts.

A Life of Health

In this sometimes crazy world of desk jobs, processed foods, family obligations, and life in the fast lane, it is easy to forget that the one who holds the ultimate responsibility for your health and wellbeing is…..you.

In fact, until you actually take on the responsibility for your own health and fitness, healthy living can be elusive.

So, how does one actually walk a healthy path, while juggling modern life’s plethora of unhealthy habits?

Some ideas:

Physical

Taking care of oneself physically seems pretty obvious. Still this area must have ongoing attention, especially in:

  • Nutrition; you are what you eat. Study this area closely; learn what real nutrition is and how to increase health through proper eating.
  • Vitamins & Herbs; When foods become depleted of natural vitamins, it is absolutely essential to know what vitamins and herbs will help maintain health for you as an individual.
  • Exercise; sometimes this seems the hardest to fit into a busy life, but proper exercise is absolutely essential to balancing not only a healthy body, but also a healthy mind.

Mental

Mental health can be maintained with a thirst for continually learning. Always being the student and being eager to learn is a sure path to both mental clarity & physical health.

Emotional

Some say that emotional wellbeing is the key to good health. Improving in this area means developing an “Attitude of Gratitude”. Learn to accept yourself, as you are.

As you travel the path toward the ultimate in health and fitness, a good attitude will not only help you to attain your goals but it will also insure that the trip will be a joy!

Don’t Let Debt Affect Your Health

Debt can have some very adverse affects on your health. You may not have even taken into account how the stress from carrying debt can affect your health. In this time of recession, many people are feeling such effects.

Certain health issues can be directly linked to the stresses of debt and the worries that come with them. These would include, but not be limited to:

  • high blood pressure
  • high cholesterol
  • weight gain
  • depression
  • heart attacks
  • strokes

It is time to stop the stress and worry cycle. It is time to take back your health and our lives.

Refinancing may be an option to consider to get rid of the worry of debt. You may be one of those people who did not know that there are even car refinance loans available. Quick and easy, you can go online to fill out an application.

After refinancing, make sure you are choosing a healthy route to relieve your stress.  Try a few of the following stress-relieving ideas:

  • Exercise is a great stress reliever.
  • Prayer and meditation give peace to the mind and soul.
  • Eat healthy foods to ensure a healthy body.
  • Be sure to get the proper amount of rest.
  • Get plenty of sunlight; it lifts the mood.
  • Focus on the positive, not the negative.
  • Reward yourself once in a while.

You only have one life to live. Do not allow the stress of worry to pull your health down. Remember, the problems of today will not last forever.

There are many things you wouldn’t want in your home, and mold is one of them. This is because health issues can arise in people who are exposed to it. Some people are more susceptible to health issues related to mold, such as the elderly and infants, but anyone can be affected.

A Home Mold Test

Mold is often visible, but there are times when you will need to do a test to see if there is a problem. Mold test kits can be picked up at your local hardware store, and they are easy to use. If your home does test positive for mold, you may need to hire a contractor to get rid of the problem, although some mold problems can be treated yourself.

Health Concerns Related to Mold Exposure

Mold is not only an eye sore, there are health related issues that come about because of the problem. You can even be sued if someone becomes sick because of your mold issue. Then you might need to consult with a Los Angeles California personal injury attorney.

Here is a list of possible side effects of mold exposure:

  • skin rash and itching
  • eye irritation
  • cough and congestion
  • aggravation of asthma
  • infections

If you suspect you have a mold problem in your home, you should take care of the problem as soon as possible. You wouldn’t want anyone in your family to have health concerns because of the issue. Usually, if mold is found in your wall, the sheetrock will have to be replaced.

Many people try very hard to stay fit and healthy by sticking to a strict diet and exercise regime. It is thought by many that doing so it really the only successful way to lose weight and to stay fit and healthy.

Indeed this is the case in many circumstances. There are many people out there who need a structured approach when it comes to eating healthy and getting regular exercise. These people obtain energy from routine and are adept at performing repetitive tasks without losing interest.  It is these types of people that find comfort in routine and are uneasy with spontaneity. If you are a person who loves routine you will have very few problems sticking to a structured exercise and diet regime.

While structure works for many, it also does not work for many others out there. Structure doesn’t always work for everyone. There are those out there who grow very bored very quickly with structure and routine. For these people, variety is the spice of life and a key element to a successful life of being fit and healthy. For these people, intuition plays a large part in determining the type and amount of exercise to be had, and it is generally worked into whatever he or she is doing for that day. This makes the process less about controlling and more about living life and being happy.

Whether you require your exercise to be structured or for it to be a spur of the moment decision, be sure to listen to your body. That way you will be able to figure out what works best for you.

Organization and Healthy Living

Ever heard of FENG SHUI?  Probably not a few years ago, but, most likely, you have recently.

It’s the hot new – age (yet very old) concept everyone is beginning to adapt.  Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese system governing the laws of aesthetics.  It was originally practiced, of course, by the Chinese, but is now popular among Westerners as well.

Burial and perfect tomb placement concerned the ancient Chinese culture the most. The first reference we have, in fact, to FENG SHUI is from the ancient Chinese “Book of Burial”, dating back to the fourth century.  Feng Shui is basically the perfect physical location in time.  It is important today in architecture and design.  THE DONALD – Donald Trump himself – hired a Master to construct Trump Towers.

In layman’s or the average American’s terms, it all boils down to ORGANIZATION.  We study our home, or site in relationship to the main entrance. Ideally, an entryway that “flows” and attracts water, followed by one that attracts wind is our ultimate goal.  These two elements create and shape the force of energy, or “Chi”.

Being in control of your life and your home is the basis of health, and of healthy living.  The key to longevity is calmness, serenity, and the implementation of tranquility in your life.  If you organize your space, you can streamline your life and prevent the health risks associated with the stress of chaos and disorganization.

Control your time and space – it is as simple as that.  Yin and Yang.  The energy around you needs to flow effortlessly, to achieve your personal goals and refine your space in life.

ENDING ANXIETY WITH VITAMINS, EXERCISE AND FIT LIVING

First of all, KNOW YOUR VITAMINS.  The internet, vitamin “bibles” and first-hand information from your doctor, friends, and your co-workers can be vital to prevention of future illnesses, and guide you on your path to healthy living.

Vitamins are essential to life, and to our body’s sense of general well-being.  Vitamins cannot and DO NOT replace food.  They COMPLEMENT your diet, and what your body is taking in.  The “B” vitamins are key to our bodies ‘nervous systems.  So is Magnesium –also known as the anti-stress mineral.

Nutrients, on the other hand, are necessary for the function of your vital organs, as well as cell growth.  They work through the digestive process.

Some of the best choices when trying to alleviate the negative effects of stress are walking, yoga, meditation, “Tai Chi”, massage, aromatherapy, chamomile tea, and LAUGHING!  Social ties and support are fantastic stress relievers.  Call a friend if the going gets tough.  Pet your pet, and bond with your pet.  Stroking that fur (or scales….) calms you and reduces your blood pressure.  Believe it or not, the results are in.  It is a fact – those animals do indeed relieve tension.

Say “no” to unrealistic requests and demands, learn to delegate tasks and responsibilities, and consider volunteering your free time to those in need.  These activities provide immense satisfaction, a sense of freedom, and adjust your perspective on life.

Walk, exercise, join a club, dance – do whatever makes you happy.  More important, DO WHAT MAKES YOU MOVE. Don’t just sit there.  The human body was not created to sit in a chair eight hours a day, day after day.  Get busy, in a stress-free way.   Move your body, stretch your muscles.  No excuses – There are exercises programs available on television, on DVD, whatever.  Just make sure you DO SOMETHING.

Fitness and health are ongoing lifestyle ways and adjust

The Benefits of the Acai Berry

Acai Berries

Image via Wikipedia

The acai berry, a deep red fruit, grows on the acai palm tree (Euterpe oleracea) and is native to Central and South America. The acai berry is a relative to blueberries, cranberries and numerous other dark purple fruits. The berry has been touted as a superfood by marketers, who claim that the acai berry has numerous health benefits and can help people quickly shed pounds. While the acai berry is in fact a healthy food, scientific studies have yet to prove that all these claims are true. Thus, consumers should do their own research on the berry before trusting everything these marketers say.

What scientists have discovered about the acai berry is that it is a fruit rich in anthocyanins and flavonoids. These substances are antioxidants that help the body protect itself from free radicals, which are harmful byproducts. By eating foods like acai berries that are rich in antioxidants, you can help curb the effects of free radicals that often cause diseases, such as heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants can also help alleviate the effects of aging.

While there’s much research proving that a diet rich in antioxidants can help promote weight loss, scientists have not found that acai berries have weight loss benefits that extend beyond the known benefits of other antioxidant-rich foods. Nor have scientists found that acai berries have greater benefits than other fruits. Nevertheless, scientists are still studying the berry to determine if it has any health benefits that have not yet been discovered.

Finding the Key to Weight Loss

Thousands of people fall for diet scams on a daily bases and with good reason. The diet industry is a billion dollar industry that is geared to making your believe that you can lose weight and all your weight loss issues will never come back if you can only follow a specific plan that the commercial is advertising. However, whatever the product that they are advertising is offering, there is no guarantee that the product will be the answer to you prayers.

For many people, trying fad diet is just another way to fail over and over again until they are left feeling like they will never be able to be the thin person that they always wanted to be. The problem with fad diets is that they only work for a limited time because they are limiting the amount of food that you are taking in. Of course you will lose weight- you are starving! But what happens when you try to live a normal life and incorporate the rules of the fad diet? You cannot do it and you have failed at another diet. The cycle does not have to continue like this because the answer to weight loss is so much easier than people think it is.

The key to weight loss is actually a very simple mathematical equation that has been working for people for centuries. You need to burn more calories then you are taking in. Weight loss is that simple!

The thing that you need to remember is that food is fuel is food for the body. When you are putting tow much fuel in your car what happens? Your gas tank runs over. The same thing happens with your body except that your waist line spills over. What you need to do is find out how many calories that you are burning during the day and then eat less calories than that. The equations is so simple, it actually makes fad diets look rather stupid.

Exercising Towards a Goal

There are several reasons that people want to start exercising and every reason is a great one. Many people want to lose weight for an event, for health reasons, or for personal reasons like wanting to look better in jeans. No matter what the intentions are for losing weight and exercising, even the best laid plans can start to fade into a distant memory. One of the best things that people can do for themselves, even with a set goal in place, is to add another goal.

Another goal would be joining something that is exercise related that would require to train and push yourself harder. Think about joining a small run around your home town. While the thought of running a marathon might be to much for you, think about running a race that is five kilometers. Many races include a walk run, so you would have the option of walking part of the race in case you do not think you can run the entire thing. If you are not the type of person who wants to run for any length of time, there are several walks that you can join.

Getting involved in something like a walk or run will not only help to motivate you to get up your routine but you will be doing something go for others. Many of runs and walk are get up to raise money through fund raising. You can help to support anything that you believe in.

You would also have the option of joining a team that would help you to stay motivated because you would have others to work with. It would be a lot harder to skip out of a workout if you would be letting down a several other people.
